Church furniture is an integral part of any worship facility. As every person who walks through the door of your church will be directly affected. They will be thinking about the seating available to them for the duration of the service. Once you select this key element of your worship space, it is important for your facility manager to exercise the proper care and maintenance. This should be done to ensure your investment will continue providing your congregation with welcoming beauty. As well as comfort for many years to come.
Here are a few important care and maintenance tips to note about any and all wood furniture:
- Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight may cause color changes to the wood. It can also cause deterioration of the finish. Avoid exposure by noting any risks of direct UV rays. Be sure and take appropriate measures to limit the length and intensity of the exposure.
- Excess heat or cold can cause cracking. And also warping and checking of wood furniture. To reduce the likeliness of these issues, maintain a relatively constant temperature and humidity in your building year round.
- Moisture left on any wood finish will cause deterioration to the finish and materials. Protect your furniture from direct wetting, and clean up any spills or leaks immediately to avoid prolonged exposure.
