Tell us a little about yourself.

My belief in treating all people with respect and attention to their needs is at the heart of who I am. As a sales consultant, I bring this philosophy to my daily work, serving all backgrounds and organizations equally. This year, my wife Diana and I will be celebrating 20 years of marriage, and together we have raised four children and have two grandchildren. Born and raised in Kansas, I’m a lifelong fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife, children, and grandchildren; along with pursuing my hobby of model railroading.

How did you get your start in the furniture industry?

As a minister, my focus was always on serving my congregation and creating an environment that fostered community and connection. Little did I know that this experience would eventually lead me down a path towards selling courtroom furniture. When I first heard about the opportunity at Sauder Courtroom Furniture, I knew this could be something special. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that my experience in creating welcoming and functional spaces could be applied to a completely different setting. I knew that my passion for creating practical furniture spaces would allow me to be an asset to the Sauder team. I started my career in sales by taking a leap of faith and using my experience to assist courthouses and municipalities providing seating solutions that are functional, comfortable, and inviting to all who visit.

What do you enjoy about your job as a sales consultant?

As a sales consultant, I enjoy the opportunity to connect with people on a personal level. I love being in a customer-facing role where I can meet new people and hear their stories. It’s really rewarding to be able to create a relatable space where customers feel comfortable sharing their needs and challenges. For me, the key to success in this business is building solid relationships from the start. That means taking the time to really listen to our customers and understand their needs, so that we can find common ground and connect on a personal level. I believe that when we build strong relationships with our customers, we not only earn their trust and loyalty, but we also create a more enjoyable and satisfying work environment for ourselves. So, what I enjoy most about my job? I enjoy opportunity to connect with people and build lasting relationships that benefit everyone involved

Custom Benches in Courtroom

A memorable project.

One of my most memorable projects was the Johnson County Courthouse in Olathe, Kansas. Being part of this project was an incredible experience because it involved working with the architect’s specifications and renderings to create a completely custom product and layout. The courtroom bench leg supports, the finish, even the material used for the benches were all unique and specifically requested for this project. It was fascinating to work on such a challenging project, and the fact that we used quarter sawn cherry wood for the benches made it even more exciting. This project showed the diversity of our work at Sauder Courtroom Furniture and how we are not limited by the wood species, and custom finishes. It was an unforgettable experience, and I am proud to have been a part of such a unique project.
